Manual Espresso
A few manufacturers introduced brewers with retro appeal in their designs,
which belied their modern functionality.
The thermoblock in Nespresso’s Gran
Maestria and Maestria, a more compact version, heats up in 30 seconds.
Features include automatic power
shut-off, five programmable menu
modes, 19-bar high pressure pump

and coffee volume. On other, older
machines, one had to hold a button
and keep it pressed while brewing.
Available in finishes that include titanium, platinum and polished aluminum,
suggested retail prices range from
$699 to $899.
