Fashion, art, entertainment and
even the automobile industry
provide additional influences that
dictate where color trends are
headed. Fashion designer Tommy
Hilfiger, whose line evokes preppy
with a bit of quirkiness, uses strong
colors of red, white and blue with
green, gray and “breen” – a combination of brown and green. The
upcoming London Olympics also
reinforces the importance of red,
white and blue, which are the key
colors in Eiseman’s New Old School
palette.
Staying within the fashion realm,
Eiseman said the popularity of
denim and suede shows up in her
Rugged Individuals palette that
boasts colors such as Vintage Indi-
go and Stonewash. Additionally, the
images of the Old West – weathered
wood, leather and animal hide – are
the inspiration behind colors such as
Boulder, Raw Sienna and Chipmunk.

Lifetime Brands’ KitchenAid
line offers new colors in its
Flame palette, including its
take on the color of the year,
Tangerine Tango.

colors, said Eiseman, referring to
“The Artist,” the Academy Award-winning black-and-white picture.
This film harkens to the Art Deco
period, which is known for its
sophisticated color range. And the
upcoming remake of “The Great
Gatsby” will keep this color range
in the forefront, she said. Colors
found in Eiseman’s Glamour and
Connoisseur palettes are Beechnut,
a sophisticated yellow-green that is
red or blue; and Patrician Purple.
Purple, the color of royalty, is feature in the British drama “Downton
Abbey” and gives way to other
purpled wine hues teamed with
antique white or soft pastels. 44
