“Fishing is a historically well-known sector because of the work
of the indirect human consumption
industry (traditional) such as fish
meal. However, in the last few
years, Peru has developed direct
human consumption products; we
have products such as giant squid,
sardines, mackerel, tuna, scallops,
prawns, etc.,” he notes.

Expoalimentaria Peru
The third Expoalimentaria fair
organized by the Exporters Association (ADEX), with the support
of PROMPERU, the Foreign Affairs
Ministry, Minag and Proinversion,
concluded with great success, with
about 1,800 buyers from all over
the world coming to Peru to do
business with Peruvian buyers.
Velásquez points out that until
Thursday, Sept. 29 (a day before
the event concluded), the fair
received 17,448 visits, of which
1,795 were international buyers
from the five continents: 946 from
South America, 370 from Europe,
345 from North America, 48 from
Central America, 77 from Asia,
eight from Oceania and one from
Africa.
“We were expecting around 1,000
international buyers, and that
amount has been exceeded. I
