Beaverton Foods Earns Six Awards at World-Wide Mustard Competition
Vendor
Beaverton Foods, Inc. picked up two golds, three silvers and a bronze
at the 17th annual World-Wide Mustard Competition held at the National
Mustard Museum in Middleton, Wis., on April 29. About 350 mustard
entries from around the globe vied for top honors in 17 categories.
The following is a listing of the 81-year-old specialty and gourmet condiment manufacturer’s mustard medal winners: Gold, Inglehoffer Honey
Maple and Beaver Hot Chinese Mustard; Silver, Inglehoffer Sweet Hot
Mustard with Honey, Napa Valley Extra Hot & Sweet with Habanero,
and Inglehoffer Wasabi Horseradish Mustard; and Bronze, Inglehoffer
Organic Honey Mustard.
Domonic Biggi, EVP of Beaverton Foods, said the family-owned-and-op-erated company is proud to be a longtime participant in the museum’s
mustard competition.
“It is humbling and gratifying to have culinary experts think so highly of
our products,” Biggi said. The National Mustard Museum’s curator Barry
Levenson added: “Since its inception in 1995, Beaverton Foods has won
more medals at the World-Wide Mustard Competition than any other
company.”
The competition is open to all commercial mustard makers and it is
“blind,” so judges do not know the makers of the mustards they taste.
In each of the 17 categories, gold, silver and bronze awards were
awarded. The distinguished panel of judges consisted of nearly 60 food writers, chefs and other industry professionals. Based in Hillsboro, Ore., Beaverton Foods is the largest producer of non-refrigerated horseradish and award-winning specialty mustards in the United States, and it is the only manufacturer of real wasabi paste in North America. The company also offers a wide variety of best-selling ourmet sauces, garlic, spices and other unique specialty condiments packaged under these labels: Beaver, Inglehoffer, Napa Valley, Tulelake and Pacific Farms. The company also develops, produces and co-packs a broad range of products
for companies in the country and abroad. In addition to its HACCP
program, this third-generation family-owned company also has kosher
certification, organic certification and is in the process of adding SQF
(Safe Quality Food) certification. For more information, call 503-646-

2011 World-Wide Mustard Competition.
The international contest, formerly held in conjunction with the Napa Valley Mustard Festival,
is now its own event, sponsored by the world’s only National Mustard Museum, a nonprofit
organization, recently relocated to Middleton, Wis.
The Medals, in 18 Award categories, were announced at a spirited fundraising campaign on
April 29 “An Evening of Mustard Royalty.” Coincidentally, April 29 was also the date of the
royal wedding between Kate Middleton and Prince William.
