Planning is everything.
I am convinced that the nation’s
economy has hit bottom and is
showing signs of recovery. This
could create new problems as
demand is placed on the supply
system once again. I have heard
on the street from an experienced
supplier that many companies may
experience supply problems this fall
because the supply chain will take
time to ramp up.

Think about it. As the USA demanded fewer products,
factories in Asia reduced production. They laid off
workers, and in some instances, closed altogether.

Beautiful weather and loads
of new product pushed Spring
Tabletop Market attendance
up some 30% last month.
I should just stop my editorial
here – since that really says
it all. It’s great to see people
back in the market, looking for
new product that will fit their
customer’s needs and wants.
Our feature story this month
takes you on a tour of the
Spring Tabletop Market,
with pictures of new product and new showrooms.
We’re also bringing a new company to your attention
this month – Domestic Aesthetic. Bonnie and I met
the founder, Diane Ruengsorn at the 7 West New York
opening night cocktail party. She launched her new
company in January 2010.
Diane’s new company has a clear vision, beautifully
designed product and a well-crafted marketing strategy.
The housewares industry has always been a welcoming
place for new companies, and I’m delighted to see
Domestic Aesthetic added to the roster of the creative
companies shaping the future of the industry.
We have two other highlights this month – specialty
food products and barware. The specialty food products
were part of a regional show hosted by Associated
Buyers, a distributor of natural, organic, specialty and
ethnic foods.
Enjoy the new product selections.
